I adore reading. The end.
Just joking, in this post we will discuss why I love reading so much, so let’s just get right into it! Alternatively, you can watch my first YouTube video about why I love reading instead.
Escapism
One of the biggest reasons I love reading is the escape it offers. Books allow me to step away from my life and into another world. If I’m stressed or bored, I can always escape into a good book. Perhaps this is why I love the fantasy genre so much as it is usually as far away as possible from reality!

Conversation Starters
Books are also amazing conversation starters! I love discovering people who share my love of books. Even when I don’t have the same book tastes of the person I’m talking to, we share that love and we can still get on well! Talking about books can often lead off into other conversations, so you can surpass that awkward phase if there’s any pause. Plus, it’s always awesome getting new book recommendations!Learning About Cultures and New Worlds
Through reading, I’ve learned about different cultures and perspectives I might never experience firsthand. As I’m sure many people can relate, books allow me to escape into a different world and learn about the thoughts of characters and how the world around them works. There’s also the perspective of being able to figure out how an author of a book thinks. There’s so much to learn in books – both fiction and non-fiction. Every book teaches me something – sometimes about the world, sometimes about others, and sometimes about myself (a bit deep, sorry)
Online Book Community
Another reason reading means so much to me is the online book community. From bookstagram, booktube, and booktok, it’s so great to see other like-minded people sharing their views, book recs, and reactions. It often feels more like a shared experience when you enter the comments and see people discussing book-related topics.
Conclusion
Reading is more than a hobby for me – it’s a source of comfort, connection, and constant discovery! I hope you enjoyed this post and feel free to leave your thoughts.

Why I Love Reading
Over time, I’ve realised that my love for reading isn’t just about stories – it’s about connection, curiosity, and escape in the best possible way.
